Special interests: Medical education,
diagnostic errors in medicine, protein abnormalities
After graduating from the University of Adelaide with my basic
medical degree, I trained in Chemical Pathology under the
supervision of Dr Peter Pannall, a world renowned author and
educationalist at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woodville. Once
qualified my first position as a Chemical Pathologist was based at
the Kent Town Clinpath Pathology Laboratory, working with a
well-known author and mentor Dr Noel Walmsley. I have spent the
last almost 30 years working in both the public and private
pathology systems in South Australia and the Northern
Territory.
Having been invited, recently, to join the Clinpath Pathology
fold, I feel as if I have returned home. The underlying ethos and
medical direction of this medical practice remains unchanged,
though the building layout is very different. I feel privileged to
be able to return to my roots and be part of a quality medical
service, working towards the best outcome for each patient.
I have until recently been the pathology representative on AMA
(SA) council, and have served on state branches of both the AACB
and the RCPA. I continue to be actively involved in laboratory
accreditation through the National Association of Testing
Authorities (NATA).
